1. About EpiscoBOT

EpiscoBOT is an AI-powered platform providing information, chat services, and devotional content related to the Episcopal Church. The EpiscoBOT platform is developed and operated by Leporia Software in partnership with TryTank. By accessing or using any EpiscoBOT service — including the web chat interface, login features, or SMS message subscriptions — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

EpiscoBOT is not a product of, nor officially affiliated with, The Episcopal Church, the General Convention, or the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using EpiscoBOT in any form, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the service.

3. Description of Services

AI Chat

EpiscoBOT provides an AI-powered chat interface that answers questions about Episcopal Church doctrine, history, liturgy, and practices. Responses are generated automatically using large language model technology and draw on a curated library of publicly available Episcopal Church documents. Responses are not reviewed by clergy or church officials before delivery and may contain errors.

Account & Login

Certain features of EpiscoBOT require a registered account. Account authentication is handled by Leporia Software using one-time password (OTP) verification sent via SMS to your registered phone number. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

SMS Messaging Services

EpiscoBOT offers opt-in SMS text message services, including OTP login codes and devotional message subscriptions (such as Holy Week or other seasonal content), provided by Leporia Software. By providing your phone number and opting in, you agree to receive SMS messages from EpiscoBOT. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

• Opt-out: You may cancel SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages will be sent.
• Help: Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us via our feedback form.
• Phone number privacy: Your phone number will never be sold, leased, or shared with any third party for any reason.
• Message frequency: Frequency varies by subscription type. Devotional series typically send one message per day during a designated season.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use EpiscoBOT only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with its mission of Episcopal Church education and community. You agree not to:

• Use EpiscoBOT to harass, defame, or harm others
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the service
• Use EpiscoBOT to generate or distribute misinformation
• Impersonate clergy, church officials, or other individuals
• Attempt to circumvent authentication, security, or access controls
• Use EpiscoBOT for any commercial purpose without prior written consent from Leporia Software

5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

EpiscoBOT uses artificial intelligence to generate responses. While we strive for accuracy and ground our responses in official Episcopal Church documents, AI-generated content is not infallible. You should not rely on EpiscoBOT as a substitute for guidance from qualified clergy, licensed counselors, or official church authorities. Always consult your local clergy or lay leaders for matters of significant spiritual, theological, or pastoral concern.

6. Intellectual Property

The EpiscoBOT platform, including its design, code, branding, and curated knowledge base, is the intellectual property of Leporia Software and its licensors. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from any part of the EpiscoBOT platform without prior written permission. Episcopal Church documents and liturgical texts remain the property of their respective copyright holders.

7. Privacy

Your use of EpiscoBOT is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms of Service by reference. Please review the Privacy Policy to understand our data collection and use practices, including how we handle phone numbers and SMS opt-in data.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Leporia Software and TryTank shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, EpiscoBOT — including damages resulting from reliance on AI-generated content. EpiscoBOT is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

9. Modifications to the Service

Leporia Software reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of EpiscoBOT at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes to the service or these Terms.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of EpiscoBOT after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation in the first instance. You agree that the courts of competent jurisdiction will have authority over any unresolved disputes.
